FirePits are not a retreat you attend and return from unchanged — or worse, unchanged after three weeks. Acceptance means entry into a private network of owners and operators who have been through the same fire and carry something different because of it.
No public roster. No LinkedIn announcement. The value of this network is precisely that it doesn't operate the way professional networks do. Once you're in, you're in. The events continue. The community persists. What gets built between people who've seen each other at their most unguarded — that compounds differently than anything else in your professional life.

What they couldn't

It was refreshing to surround myself with people who've been on the journey in different ways. It kept things novel — I could really listen. Opening up about my own insecurities as a dad opened up the willingness to listen to others addressing the same things.
The stories we tell ourselves are powerful. I saw firsthand how a friend had trouble shaking a negative perception that absolutely no one else in the group shared. Believing the best stories about yourself makes all the difference.
By training the way we do, there is not much we can't do. That is the message I bring back to my community. My everyday training prepared me for almost any physical challenge — and so it does for the people I lead.
